Teachers Taking Action #007 The #1 reason you aren't landing interviews

Happy Saturday to you and 3751 motivated Teachers Taking Action in our community.

Here's one short tip on how to grow your network and land your dream job.

Today's issue takes about 3 minutes to read.

Enjoy!

The #1 reason you aren't landing interviews has NOTHING to do with your resumé or your experience.

What?????

A HUGE shock right?

So what IS the reason you are asking?

The reason you are not landing interviews is that you are not communicating your value.

Ok. So your next question is - how do I do that?

To communicate your value to Principals and schools (and get hired) you have to create a situation where they KNOW, LIKE and TRUST you.

And the way that you do this is by creating a strong PERSONAL BRAND.

Personal branding is not just for marketers, people in the media and influencers.

It's for everyone.

It's how you show up online, and create an environment for people to get to know you.

The goal is to get people to KNOW, LIKE and TRUST you.

This is how you get more interviews and job offers.

NOT by sending off hundreds of low-quality job applications with a resumé and cover letter that looks like every other teacher and has ZERO incentive for schools to be interested in you.

However, there's something you need to know:

It doesn't happen overnight.

It's a process that can take AT LEAST 3-6 months of showing up consistently online and creating relationships with Principals and schools.

This means that you can't wait until you are looking for a job to start.

You have to start NOW so that in 6 or 12 months' time when you are looking to get hired, you have built a network of Principals and schools that KNOW, LIKE and TRUST you.

They will then be more than happy to have a conversation with you about how you can add value to their team because you will have shown them consistently over time who you are and the value you will add.

They will KNOW, LIKE and TRUST you.

And then they will hire you.

Make sense?

This is how the teachers that we've worked with have been hired.
